PART # 1 THE RISE & FALL OF SOUTH PARK MEXICAN

This is an article I posted way back on October 2005. I found it very interesting and I wanted to share it with the rest of the world. To this very day people from all over the world post comments about it. Well here it is again. Ejoy and leave your thoughts. Tony-C aka Heater 8/23/06

PART 1 OF 3

CAROLS COY WAS A SELF-MADE SUCCESS STORY, A HOUSTON KID WHO WALKED AWAY FROM PETTY DRUG DEALING TO BUILD A THRIVING RAP EMPIRE AND BECOME A ROLE MODEL TO THOUSANDS. THEN HE WAS CONVICTED OF AN UNSPEAKABLE CRIME THAT MAY KEEP HIM IN JAIL FOR A VERY LONG TIME. BY JOHN NOVA LOANS

South Park Mexican never did all that well with the critics, especially those from beyond Texas. The New York press said His 2000 Major-Label Debut "TIME IS MONEY" (UNIVERSAL) was "Bad, Cheap Rap" That sounded like it "Came from a Casio Tone Bank," While ALLMUSIC.COM dismissed it as "[not] worthy of National Attention." Fans on the national scene were not quite so blase, though their compliments were often firmly backhanded. "I think I have a new favorite wack MC," wrote a Usenet poster shortly after SPM'S first video began airing on MTV. "His style is nuts. It's like how a 4 year old would rhyme if he sold drugs and fucked hoes....He is the worst MC I've ever heard but that's what makes him dope."

Not that the haters brought him down. In five years, the rapper (who was born Carlos Coy) went from peddling homemade cassettes out of his backpack at swap meets, car shows and ice houses to running his own successful indie rap label, complete with a distribution deal with Universal. Between 1997 and 2001, he averaged sales of more than 100,000 units a year. About a dozen rappers were in his stable, and about as many more people (including his parents and siblings) were employed at his Dopes House label in Houston.

Certain classes of the people he came to think of as "his"---RAZA---loved him as they have loved few others since Selena. While the parents of his fans may tune in to Tejano or regional Mexican sounds, their children wanted something grittier, something street, something "on the real," and Coy gave it to them. No Texan rapper of Mexican heritage had ever done what he had done--deliver up gangsta-rap--La Raza- style with such flair and wit.

By 1999, Coy no longer saw himself as a mere rapper, but something like a Chuck D of La Raza. If hip-hop is the CNN of black America, Coy wanted to be the Telemundo of brown America. He boasted to one sold-out concert hall, "Before I'm done, MTV's gonna stand for Mexican television!"

But one bunch of critics had the power to bring him down, and that was the 12 jurors who heard a month of often graphic testimony in Judge Mark Kent Ellis' courtroom. It wasn't Coy's music they were trashing. It was his behavior, which included molesting his daughter's overnight guest, fathering a child with a 13-year-old 10 years ago when he was 23 and having sex with six other underage girls.

Their verdict: 45 years and a $10,000 fine. With TV cameras allowed in the courtroom for the first time, Judge Ellis read a speechless Coy his "review." "In my 17 years on this bench I have seen a lot of sex offenders, and there is one thing they all have in common. They are all liars, and you are no exception. You've lied to this court. You've lied to your family. You've lied to your fans with your so called positive raps when your own life wasn't right.
"The fact is, there is only one victim in this case and it is a 9 year-old girl," Ellis thundered on. "Now that is reality, and you need to deal with it. Time for you to face the music. "Bailiffs, take him away."

So ended the wild ride of a young, Houston-born man who gave voice to a huge and growing segment of the Texas population, a barrio Horatio Alger who was intent on becoming something more than just another gangsta rapper with a few hit records.

Coy's story began on the Southeast side of Houston, a working-class area by Hobby Airport. When Carlos was 3, his ex-Marine father Arthur walked out on the Family, though father and son have since entered into an uneasy reconciliation. After his parents' divorce, Coy's sister was left to raise him. According to Sylvia Coy, who describes herself as Carlos's "mother-sister," their mother was to proud to go on welfare. "We lost all of our cars-my mom went and bought an old car. Basically she always worked to save the house, and I took care of Carlos."

Sylivia paints Carlos as something of a wild child. He excelled at sports, and later, break-dancing. At the trial, he told the court that he once envisioned a career as a professional break-dancer. "When breaking went out of style, I was left with out a job," he chuckled.

In junior high, he says he showed a remarkable talent on the violin, though he never picked one up in his later musical career. In one year, he became first chair in his class. "I passed up every-body," he boasted in court. "Chinese kids and everything."

Coy's life changed dramatically when his family moved from predominantly Hispanic Southeast Houston neighborhood to African-American South Park. At Woodson Middle School, where he was a classmate of BRAD JORDAN (aka Scarface), Coy was the only Hispanic. He filed away the Barry Manilow and Charlie Daniels records of his youth and replaced them with RUN-DMC and MARVIN GAYE.

At about the same time, he started smoking marijuana and drinking beer. Trouble followed. Gang members beat him up for not joining with them. Other guys beat him up, he says, for stealing their girls. He was thrown out of Houston's Milby High School, when, as a 17 year old freshman, he slugged a female classmate. He tried to continue his education at an alternative school, but eventually threw in the towel. Coy explained his rationale to the Houston Press' Craig Lindsey in 1999. "One more year in high school," he said, "and I would have went to jail for fucking all those little young bitches."

In the punishment phase of his trail three years later, those boastful words would come back to haunt him. Prosecutor Lisa Andrews opened her cross-examination by reading them to the court. A juror actually gasped aloud. Coy was asked to explain himself. "Uhhhh, I may have said that," was all Coy could say in his defense.

More to come...............................

SOUTH PARK MEXICAN CONVICTED OF SEXUALLY ASSAULTING GIRL

I'm sure most of you have seen this, but to this day I still find it very interesting. I have this great article that I will post up one day from the Texas Music Magazine which says that he got a 14 year old (I think)pregnant. DAMN. Any way I'll find it and post it up.

HOUSTON--May 20, 2002-- A Houston jury could decide Monday the fate of convicted rap musician Carlos Coy, as they begin considering evidence in the sentencing portion of his trial.

A jury on Saturday convicted Coy, who is known as "South Park Mexican," of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl who spent the night at his home last September.

Coy, 31, faces up to life in prison based upon the conviction of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

State District Judge Mark Kent Ellis required jurors to continue their deliberations Saturday after they received the case on Friday. The jury spent a total of eight hours deliberating before returning the guilty verdict.

The girl, now 10, testified at one point that she didn't remember what happened and that she could have dreamed Coy touched her inappropriately. She later said the incident was real.

"By her testimony itself, we've proved the case," prosecutor Lisa Andrews told jurors during closing arguments Friday. "She's credible."

The girl told jurors she went to Coy's house to spend the night with his 6-year-old daughter. As the children were playing in an upstairs bedroom, Coy told them to watch a movie, the girl testified.

The girls and Coy were on the bed watching the movie, she said, when Coy put his hand under the blanket and rubbed her buttocks for about five minutes. Later, she said, Coy came into the bedroom where she was staying, sat on the bed and touched her genital area.

Coy's attorney, Chip Lewis, showed jurors portions of movies which the girl had watched, including: "Scream," "Scream 2" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer."

He also showed portions of "Scary Movie" and "Scary Movie Part 2," which Lewis said depicted the sexual acts the girl had alleged against his client.

"The principle is that a child who is not sure if (the alleged act) was a dream or reality has got to get the idea from somewhere," Lewis said. "It's fairly easy to draw an inference from the fact she was exposed to such violent, graphic sexual material."

Coy, who co-founded Houston-based Dope House Records, remains jailed without bail in Harris County. His latest album, Reveille Park, was released this month.

THIS IS SO TRUE!

A BITCH IS A BITCH- NWA
[Eazy E]
Oh shit. I guess there's one less bitch you gotta worry about.

[Narrator]
Let's describe a certain female. A female with the disease of character
and attitude. If you will a snob. However in a view of NWA...

[Ice Cube]
A bitch is a bitch (bitch)
So if I'm poor or rich (word up)
I talk in the exact same pitch
Now the title bitch don't apply to all women
But all women have a little bitch in 'em (yeah)
It's like a disease that's plagues their character
Takin' the women of America (yeah)
And it starts with a letter B
It makes a girl like that think she better than me (bitch)
See, some get mad and some just bury
But, yo, if the shoe fits wear it (wear it)
It makes 'em go deaf in the ear
That's why when you say 'hi' she won't say 'hi'
Are you the kind that think you're too damn fly?
Bitch eat shit 'n die (ha, ha)
Ice cube comin' at you at crazy pitch
(Why?) I think a bitch is a bitch

'Who the fuck you think you're callin' a bitch you little ? muthafucka?
I dunno who the fuck you think you're talkin' to. Let me tell you one
muthafuckin' thang, I'm not a...' [Eazy E] 'Bitch, shut the fuck up.'

Yo, you can tell a girl that's out for the money (How?)
She look good and the bitch walk funny
She ain't no dummy she's right the conniving
Yo, bitch fuck when I'm driving
See a young nigga that's striving
You're thru' without a BMW
That's why a bitch is a bitch
I guess, or ether P-M-S
Here, test the girl that's kinda snobby (a'ight)
And I bet you dis a nigga is her hobby
And after she finished the test
Write today a B-I-T-C-H
And watch her get mad 'cause she know it's true (she know it)
But a nigga like me, will say 'fuck you'
Do like Ice Cube, slam her ass in a ditch (slam her ass)
'Cause a bitch is a bitch

'Why I gonna be a bitch?'
'I ain't call you no bitch. If you'd listen to a goddamn song it'd tell
you what a bitch is.'
'Fuck the song 'cause I'm not no muthafuckin' bitch.'
'I didn't say you was a bitch.'
'Fuck you, punk-ass nigga!'
'Fuck you, bitch!
'Fuck you! Who the fuck you think you are?
'Fuck you! Suck my dick, bitch!

I once knew a bitch who got a slack
'Cause she playing me like she was all that
A bitch can be your best friend talking behind your back (yeah)
About who's fucking who and who's getting fat
Look at yourself for me, (look bitch)
Now do you fall in this category?
Or you're the kind that won't bleank
'Cause you don't think, yo, shit don't stink
Luckily I haven't had a drink
'Cause I'll down you ass
Than I'll clown your ass
'Cause the niggas I hang with ain't rich (I ain't rich)
We're all saying 'Fuck you bitch!' (Word up!)
Now, what I can do with a hoe like you
Been your ass over then I'm thru'
? you see Ice Cube ain't takin' no shit
(Why?) 'Cause I think a bitch is a bitch

[Narrator]
There you have it. The description of a bitch. Now ask yourself,
are they talking about you? Are you that funky, dirty, money-hungry,
scandalous, stuck-up, hair piece contact wearing bitch? Yep, you
probably are.

Bitch!

BUN-B ON MSNBC!!!!!!!!!

Rap legend Bun B releases first solo CD
Feuding rappers like Slim Thug and Lil’ Flip come together to support Bun B

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Updated: 5:19 p.m. ET Oct. 17, 2005
HOUSTON - As one of the pioneers of Houston’s burgeoning rap scene, Bun B feels a responsibility to unite all the city’s often beefing players.

So it was no surprise that he invited all the city’s heavy-hitters to appear on a remix of “Draped Up,” the first single off his solo debut, “Trill,” which comes out Tuesday.

What is surprising is to hear feuding rappers like Slim Thug and Lil’ Flip, or Chamillionaire and Paul Wall, come together on the same track to support one of the South’s most influential MCs.

“Whatever problems people had they didn’t bring it to my song,” said Bun B, one half of the rap group Underground Kingz. “They was just like, ‘We know what you trying to do and it’s going to make us all look good.’ It’s not about me. It’s about Houston and keeping Houston on the map.”

The song takes a cue from the hit single “Still Tippin”’ also featuring a screwed hook, this one by underground star Lil’ Keke. The remix includes Z-Ro, recent Roc-A-Fella signee Aztek Escobar and the platinum-selling Mike Jones.

‘A legend in the game’
Slim Thug said he got on the song despite beefs with Flip and Z-Ro because of Bun B’s constant support: “He been a legend in the game. He’s somebody everybody respect. Nobody ain’t going to tell Bun B no because he showed so much love to us young dudes.”

Expectations for the album are high after the Port Arthur native, who now calls Houston home, has guest starred on about a half dozen top-selling albums while awaiting the expected December prison release of his UGK partner Pimp C.

Long revered for his witty, complex lyrics and bellowing baritone, Bun B, born Bernard Freeman, has increased his profile for the past three years despite his bandmate’s incarceration, recently appearing on albums from everyone by Beanie Siegel to the Ying Yang Twins.

“People say out of sight out of mind, and I didn’t want people to forget about Pimp C and I definitely didn’t want people to forget about UGK,” he said. “It was all just really to let them know that we’re still here and I’m still reppin’ for him.”

Aside from the Houston cameos, the 17-track album features a coterie of Southern stars such as Ludacris, T.I., Young Jeezy, Juvenile and the Ying Yang Twins, plus a taste of the other two coasts from Jay Z and Too $hort.

Overwhelmed by the praise
UGK has sold more than 1 million records since 1992. Celebrated regionally but largely unheard of elsewhere, they made their first national splash on Jay Z’s 1999 hit “Big Pimpin.”’

The 32-year-old Bun B, who has been rapping since most of the new crop of Houston lyricists were in junior high, is enjoying a renaissance of sorts as Houston continues to gain notoriety as the new capital of Southern rap.

He will be the face of a throwback Reebok shoe that will be unveiled in Houston during the 2006 NBA All-Star game, and is working with Damon Dash on a Pro-Keds shoe line. Heady stuff for a man who has spent most of his career doing small club shows and commanding little radio play.

Modest and unassuming, Bun B, seems overwhelmed at the credit he’s received as an influence to some of today’s top-selling artists.

“I feel lucky every day when I wake up and people still like the music,” he said. “People that have taken our music to heart like that and to build off of it and prosper and make a career out of what I’ve done really is an honor.”

He said the project was challenging because Pimp C had almost single-handedly produced all the UGK records. Bun B produced much of “Trill,” with help from musicians including Mannie Fresh and Jazze Pha.

Bun B said being away from Pimp C for the almost three years he’s been in prison on an aggravated assault charge has been difficult. He is rarely seen without a “Free Pimp C” T-shirt or baseball cap and every other scene of the “Draped Up” video shows groups of people in similar shirts.

“We will definitely do more music,” he said. “I expect it to be bigger and better than ever before.”

What really Happened to Fat Pat

First off I didn't write this, but I don't have a way to link it up.

Okay through all the years at the screw shop...The one thing that we all have wondered is what exactly happened to Pat. Why did he get smoked? Well I have finally cracked the mystery and I am 100% sure this is why Pat got shot 2 times in the head...Peep game.

This story comes from none other than the original Screwed Up Clicksta and real Dead End O.G. T-Bone.

We have all known that Pat was deep in the dope game when he was alive in Houston. Well when it was time to get into the concert scene who better to go to then the one nigga that connects Austin with H-town, Weasel. Pat started doing some shows with Weasel and he also started telling everyone that he was getting out of the dope game because he was going to try the music biz for a minute. The whole time they were doing shows Pat was peeping game and they were pulling a hustle on Weasel to get him for his super chickens. So one day Weasel gets his safe house cleaned out and that's right before the last concert they had in Austin. Word gets around to Weasel that it was Pat and them who done it, but when Weasel brought it up to Pat he was like "man I told you before that I'm out of the dope game and I'm all about the music now." Well weasel knew that Pat stopped hustling because when he tried to pay him for the shows he did in Austin Pat didn't want to take dope instead of money as a form of payment. So Weasel gave Pat a ticket and let him slide this time.
Ok skip forward about a month. Weasel is doing better and has gotten back on his grind. Pat and his potna Snoop are riding around the southside in Snoops purple suburban that said S.UC. on the side, when all of a sudden Pat gets a call from Weasel. It turns out that Weasel is in H-Town looking for some fast work. Weasel wanted to know if they could meet up and talk because he got some cash on him right now. Well they met up by sharpstown mall in Houston and Weasel asks Pat if he can get him some bricks because his people are dry and he knows that Pat got the strings when it comes to finding work on the southside, but Pat tells him that he don't grind any more and he really don't want to get involved in anything like that. Then they talked about doing some more shows and maybe that would help Weasel get out of the dope game too. Weasel is like, bet lets do this. Pat ask Weasel about getting paid for the last show in Austin and Weasel tells him that he can break bread (pay him) after he earns back some of the money he lost from getting his safe house cleaned out. Remember Weasel thought that Pat had something to do with that. So Pat agrees and they part ways. The reason Pat did not serve him up with work (help him out) was because they don't do things like that in the Dead End (where Pat was from). If you ain't click you can't get shit from Fat Pat or any of them. They won't even try to help you, plus they already got that nigga for all them things in Austin.

So now Pat calls his boy Blunt and they meet up and he and Snoop parts ways.

So now Snoop is riding around with some other nigga and he sees Weasel cruising around and he tells this nigga that he gonna jack that nigga Weasel for his money because he just came to town looking to get some work and he got a lot of money on him. The nigga with Snoop agrees to go along with the jacking. So Snoop flashes down Weasel with his head-lights. Weasel is like "Man that's Pat in the suburban flashing me down, he must have found me some work."
So Weasel pulls over right by sharpstown mall to see what's going down. Snoop gets out of the suburban first and turns up his bang (stereo) all the way cuz he thought he was gonna have to shoot weasel in the parking lot and the stereo would drown out the noise from the shots.
So as soon as Weasel gets out of his car and approaches Snoop. He asks where Pat was and what's going on. Then the next thing you know Snoop and his potna are jacking Weasel for like
50 g's. This was the money that Weasel was gonna use to score some bricks. Well Weasel cooperates with the jacking and the whole thing is done in a heart beat. But it's far from over. Weasel rushes right to his girls house on the westside and calls up Pat and tells Pat that he got the cheese (money) for the concerts shows. So Pat, Blunt and Hawk head on over to meet up with Weasel to get paid. At this point it has only been like 15 minutes since Weasel got jacked. So they finally show up at the apartment were Weasel is. Pat gets out and runs to the apartment to get his cash. Weasel calmly opens the door and invites Pat in. When Pat enters the apartment he sees that there are two other people in the apartment with masks on. At first Pat thought they were just playing a joke on him, but then Weasel tells him that he knows that Pat had something to do with his safehouse getting cleaned out in Austin. Pat denies to the fullest and reminds Weasel that he gave him a ticket and let him slide. Not this time. Weasel says " I know your lying because Snoop just jacked me for 50 thousand dollar!! You tried to get me caught up again but not this time." Weasel then tells Pat to call up Snoop on his cell ands ask him what just went down. So Pat pulls out his cell phone and calls up Snoop, but before he could even finish talking Pat gets shot in the head. Snoop hearing everything that's happening calls up Hawk on the phone and tells him "man I think Pat's in trouble!! He is with that nigga Weasel and I think he just got shot!!!" Hawk and Blunt run to the apartment and break down the door but is was to late............. Pat was already gone........damn...

The rest is history. Fat Pat's first album comes out after his death and precedes to because an instant classic and Fat Pat becomes a legend in Houston as well as Texas. It's a shame that Pat got killed because he was kinda left out of the loop on the jacking.

R.I.P FAT PAT.

That's the story I got and it is a sad one. I will try my best to find out more about Pat and post it. Thanks. I hope you enjoyed it.
